Do ocular for your wedding preps venue!
During the course of our wedding preparations, one thing really bothered me a lot... Where the hell in Metro Manila shall I do our wedding preparations? As the older traditional people would say "Saan ka bababa?" (translation: Where are you going down???) Hmmm... I wonder why they say it that way! It is really a challenge to get a hotel room that is both inexpensive and big! I have tried to look at some hotels online around the Manila area since Sta. Maria Goretti Parish is located in Manila.
The requirements are:
Sofitel???? Wow.. we don't have the budget for that... It will be nice if we could have the preps in Sofitel. Big rooms, Manila Bay sunset view... grand staircase. I will definitely fatten myself up with the breakfast buffet at Spirals... maybe for our renewal of vow on our 10th anniversary.
Manila Diamond??? Hmmmm... Possibly..... but will cost us a lot if we will be booking 3 rooms... Sigh!!!
Hyatt??? Another no no... Christian should not be around Black Jack tables ... poker tables.. slot machines... anything with the gambling mark! Hahahaha... Joke lang luvs!
GHotel...this has the potential. Based from the reviews of w@wies and referral from friends, it is one in our shortlisted hotels.
Then come the hotel behind our church.... it is not really a hotel but somewhat like a short stay place. The person at the reception told me that they usually cater to priests and other people who are in Manila for conventions and the like. My mom was really digging the place since it is the cheapest one that we have looked at.
However, I did not feel the it factor and I told her the room is simply small to fit all the suppliers! She was really clueless when I told her about that. She said that it will fit! Just look at the photos dear readers....
not really big... and the room is somewhat dark
i am also not keen on the bed... it has the minimal touch!
As the wedding date draws near, I am really anxious to find the right place. We looked at Pearl Garden Hotel as our wedding reception venue and when we checked out the rooms, we knew that this is it. Christian kept on saying.. Pwede.. pwede.. pwede... When I saw the executive suite.. I knew that this is it....
Just look how we snuggled.. hahahaha.. in the room...
i am really wondering why they cornered me...

hmmm..... suppliers galore! our dream team!

- a room for my family -- for the convenience of my dad who is a survivor of stroke.

hmmm..... suppliers galore! our dream team!So to all brides out there.. you might have your respective requirements --- the floor to ceiling big windows, the sensual room furnishings that can be captured, the breathtaking staircase, the softest beds and linens... whatever it will be... BE SURE that it can fit all your suppliers.

- Will they allow delivered food in the rooms? -- remember you have to feed your suppliers
- Will they let you check in early or have a late check out without extra cost? -- some weddings are in the mid afternoon, most hotels have a check out time of 12 noon.
- Wll they provide discounts if you book more rooms? --- let's face it ... it is not only the bridal suite that we might need to book... especially those who will follow the tradition that the bride and groom should not see each other on the night before the wedding. grooms need to be relax too the night before the wedding.
- Check online rates -- they are usually cheaper! Always check the promotions link on the hotel's website!
- Try to explore other hotels... There is something special in discovering new places!

saying thank you.... ento gifts & TY tags
Before I talk about the TY cards and ento gifts... I just want to document that I am beginning to trash my mom's place with our wedding stuff! LOL! My house is too small to store all the wedding things that we have, specially my DIYs. I hauled all the remaining things from our house to Manila. I wanted to house all my stuff in my mom's place since it is nearer to our wedding venue. With all my stuff laying around, my mom got this big plastic container to keep all my things but I think I need another big box! Hahahaha...

more stuff.. now I know why my mom is complaining about my junk!Well... that is my rant for the day... Trying to figure out how to transport all our stuff on th day in an orderly fashion.
Now with our TY tags, I made one using the ever reliable powerpoint. Used the bride and groom emoticons from the invite stickers.. put in some words and voila.. TY tags! I spent almost two hours cutting out 100 pieces of it. While I was at it, I made small cards to write our thanks for our entourage. For the gifts, well... my friend/mom hehehehe.... sent some Bath and Body stuff that I packaged inside Papemelroti boxed lined with gift tissue wrappers! It came out really pretty.
Gift wrap tissue... 2 sheets per pack.. on sale for 3 pesos.. hehehehe.. bargain!

Talk about Bridal fair marathon..
01.23.2010 - Two bridal fairs were on in Manila, one in SM Megamall and the other at the NBC Tent at The Fort. I already lost count of the bridal fairs that I have been to but I went to the one in Megamall to accompany an elementary/high school friend - Ria... excuse me... Dra. Ria Rachelle Almoneda, who is also getting married on June 12, 2010! It has been a long time since we have seen each other and it is really fun to see her and share an exciting moment like this.
I also met up with one co-w@wie, Kristell at Megamall. We went first to the site since Ria is still at the hospital. The fair is not really that ... hmmm... appetizing as I may say. We were able to see other w@wies - sis Diana Grace and sis Tin with her h2b. There were a few suppliers, specially florists and photobooths that we need. After another one sweep of the place, Kristell said that we should go to the fair at The Fort. Addict as we were to our wedding preparation, I agreed. Ria have to go since she said she has to write a report due on Tuesday and she has her scheduled duty tomorrow. Too bad. I did not leave Megamall, empty handed... I was able to get a quote from a florist and it is way way within our budget. I am really not particular about flowers, I was thinking that it is ok.
Me and Kristell said our goodbyes to sis Diana and Ria and off we go to the NBC tent. We even got lost going to the venue. It has been a long time since I was at the Fort and the NBC tent is usually the first building you see in the area but man, all the newly built condos blocked it. We got there in one piece. The place is packed with suppliers and people... We prepared ourselves for the photobooth and Kristell was able to browse through the gowns. I was able to get some quotes from different florists on the site and we got to try out the photobooths. Reminders to all bride-to-be... before heading to a bridal fair and you are looking for a florist.. write down or print out the number of flowers that you need for your entourage and the type of flowers that you want! It will really come in handy if you want a customized quote of your flower needs!!!! After asking... I was able to make up my mind on a photobooth supplier and I picked Click D'Fun. The rate is good and really fair. I got a 10% discount as well. The print is fast and colorful and the clincher of all, the owner is easy to talk to.

looking at the reception venue
Yesterday, my mom, my sister and I went out to have some girls day out. With no sleep at all from my night shift, we headed off to the Robinson's Place in Manila to look around for a prom dress for my sister and I decided to pass by Pope Pius XI Catholic Center to check out the reception venue. So we went after shopping for the prom dress that will double as my sister's cocktail gown for the wedding.. She is the only bridesmaid that I have after my other sister bailed out because she is now assigned in Iloilo and will not be able to come home to Manila until the wedding day.. hehehehe!!!
When we got to Pope Pius, the church was arranged for a wedding. They have nice flowers I must say and it is simple just the way I like it. I am not a flower-kind of girl; so I am not very particular with that one. We went to the office to ask about the reception venue... Yes, I haven't seen the reception venue that they have. It was on the second floor of their main building and I must say that it reminds me of the AVR room in my old high-school. It is a very long room, low ceiling and very dark hallway. My sister commented that the color of the curtain is really not nice. I am not really thrilled about it but I think we have no choice about it. I am keeping an open mind. I have some pictures taken but I left the file in my sister's pc back home.
The reception hall at Pope Pius... I must say that it looks nice in the picture. See the walls, it can be open to have the next room to be part of the area.
The stage that they have... It can be for the band or the couples table!
We also checked out the hotel at the back of the church. The rates are really affordable compared to the other hotels around the area. The rooms are nice and it is really simple. I expected it to be simple since most of their guests are from different religious background. They are also not strict with bringing in food and with the photos. My problem is the room is not big enough to accommodate the crew. My mom keeps on saying that the room is okay. I told her that it is really okay but my problem is the number of people that will be around during the wedding preparations. I told her that the photo-video crew alone will be around 12-15 people since the guys will be bringing their respective crews!!! I cannot picture how can we fit the number of people in there!
This is the entrance to the bedroom. I was told that all the rooms are this size... I am really debating with my mom that the suppliers will not fit here during the preparations... I counted the crew for the photo-video alone will be around 15 already... Sigh!!!

Tradition anyone???
As part of any wedding traditions, there are the SOMETHINGS... --- the old --- the new --- the blue --- borrowed Let's start with the old. As I posted before, we will be using my parents' arrae. It is made up of 13 1970's 50 centavo coins. Those were the times that they made the coins very heavy and thick, making our arrae really heavy. My mom have them plated again to get the shiny shimmering look and she even have our names engraved. I really wanted to have the unity coins but since this one is for free... I went with the free one.
Something new... this is a no brainer... new shoes, new dress, new contact lenses for sure, new hubby and new life as Mrs. Quiambao..hahahahaha... lahat naman new eh... so no problems on this one....
Now for the something blue.... I guess my wedding shoes will pass as something blue??!?!? Hehehehe.. It is blue green... But i want to have something really blue.. baby blue.. royal blue... bondi blue... aqua blue... hmmmm ... too many shades of blue to choose from. I am now in the look out for flat shoes and hoping that it will either be blue or green. Think! Think! Think! Or I can have my underwear as blue! LOL!!!!
Borrowed... hmmm.. what shall I borrow? who i can borrow it from??? just keep thinking thinking... I guess i have to borrow my mom's jewelry... an earring perhaps since i don't own any...

we are changing our wedding date... 15 APRIL 2010 ... it is!
Yes you read it right.. we are moving our wedding to a day earlier... Christian just cannot wait a day to marry me... hehehehe!!!
Seriously why???? Well..... We have won the bidding for a photo-video coverage from the best photographers and videographers in the wedding industry. Imagine... Paul Vincent, Jayson Arquiza, Phoeben Teocson and Chug Cadiogan. I just cannot believe it. It came at a time that I am really looking for another photo-video supplier after I received an email from a fellow w@wie bride about her experience with the supplier that we earlier reserved.

I think it is meant to be since I bid on it even though we already have a supplier I tried to watch for this item on the W@w auction. I am hoping that we will have nice wedding pictures and videos. I remember said that I should get a nice videographer since she wants to see my wedding day! But then, we cannot afford the rates of the respected videographers.... I just prayed hard that we will be able to get it! Luckily, we won the bid.... Check out the sites of our suppliers for you to know why I am so happy!
Miscommunication occurred.. but that was settled.. with us moving our wedding date earlier... as I said Christian just cannot wait a day to marry me!!!

DIY # 2: Secondary candles and the infamous matches
I have listed previously all the DIY projects that I need to accomplish for our wedding. I have finished with two so far.. I actually made them a few weeks ago, this is the only time that I have to upload the pictures. First, our secondary candles... What we did is, we bought two candles from Divisoria just before All Soul's Day... since we were buying candles for our dead love ones, we also got the wedding candles as well... I just told Christian that I will make it pretty nice.... So with the candles, I got some lace... some blings from the ever-dependable National Bookstore! Glue gun it and voila... Our secondary candles... we will not have a unity candle since.... hmmm.. i don't like it! 
I created a small box for the finish candle since I know that we were moving... I don't want the bling to come out...
Green and blue... nice nice nice... 
I like the embellishments that I found in National Bookstore...

I got one myself during our meeting with Sheryl from Sheah Designs (own gown supplier!). I like it as well since it is cheap and it really looks chic

Trinoma's Sale... A Reason to get Wedding Stuff
After moving in our new house and fixing some of our things, I headed off to Trinoma with my mom to meet my sister. It was a sale day in the mall and I don't want to miss the opportunity to check out what they have.
We first check Gourdo's since I wanted to check out the store if it is worth to register for their Bridal registry. My mom and I went around the small space that they have and my mom went gaga over the baking paraphernalia that they have --- the Wilton stuff... I remember the days that my mom was really crazy over them! I just rode along with her since I am really more than a cook than a baker! I decided to check out the some of the small boxes and candles.. but wait.. something caught my eye... and I said YES!! This is it... I saw the cake topper that we wanted. I had a first glimpsed of it online and showed it to Christian and we both loved it! Here it is...
It is a candle actually but we will just remove the wick... I love Cosmo and Wanda of the Fairly Oddparents! Christian likes it to after I introduced him to them... I was jumping up and down at Gouro's when I saw them.. We were actually wishing to have a Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy one but this is awesome. It was on sale also... It was for 80.00 pesos ... yes folks... eighty pesos!!! Love it!
After getting the item... we headed off to search for my sister. We passed by some shops to check out some ties for Christian but that failed. So we went to the shoe stores, since it was a sale day, I might stumble on the shoes that I want for a bargain... Lo and behold.. at Janylin's window, I saw the pair that I want with the color that is perfect... Blue green! a mix of our colors... hehehehe!!! I love it.. love it ... love it!!! It is also at 10% off...
I like the smell of new shoes...
Nice right??? Can I handle the heels??? Hmmm.. let's wait and see....
Just can't stop taking pictures of it... I actually wore them today at home.. walking around! Christian warned me not to fall down because of it during our wedding. He knows that I am not used to wearing heels. I told him that I will only wear it during the ceremony and will change to another pair for our reception.. Hahaha... so my shoe hunting is not yet over!

Looking for the right shoes
Since I am on the heavy side, I am more of a shoes-person than a dress person. I am now on the hunt for the best looking pair of chartreuse green or aqua blue shoes! Whenver me and Christian will go to the mall, I make sure to take peek on the shoe stores that we pass through, looking out for the hint of green or blue on the display but I cannot find anything. It is mostly black, white or beige. I want my shoes to stand out and be the picture perfect shoes that they can be. Hahahaha....
I told Christian that my last resort is to have them custom-made... So I sat in-front of the PC and google my way to search the nice looking shoes that I found. I ended up with some nice ones.
I got this photo to reference the type of green that I am after. I just love the color of it!
Too bad, this photo does not show the side of the shoe... I can picture it in chartreuse and aqua...

I told Christian that my last resort is to have them custom-made... So I sat in-front of the PC and google my way to search the nice looking shoes that I found. I ended up with some nice ones.

Too bad, this photo does not show the side of the shoe... I can picture it in chartreuse and aqua... 
This one is nice too... I am still not sure though whether I want an open toe pair or get something closed but with a pointed tip... Hmmmm... Girls just really love their shoes. Since I am not really good with high heels, I am only looking for flat shoes for the reception... mary jean ones to be exact...

Flowers... flowers.. flowers!
I am not the type of girl who likes flowers. Christian only gave me one piece of rose during our first Valentine's day together. He believes that it is a waste of money! Even though I gave him several hints to buy me just one bouquet for a change but no flowers came. I am not bitter or mad about it, I understand his philosophy about flowers. Now our wedding is almost less than 6 months, I have no idea what flowers to get for my bouquet or the centerpieces flowers or the entourage flowers... I am definitely clueless!
One flower supplier emailed me their rates. It is reasonable but I don't have an idea of what the flowers are. I heard about tulips, roses, carnations and mums but when I inquired about her on getting green flowers are my wedding bouquet, she gave types of flowers I haven't heard before! Cymbidiums for one. I forgot the others since I accidentally deleted the text message but I have to google the flowers to see what they look like. So far I like the cymbidiums and that's why it got stuck in my mind but honestly I have to google again the spelling of the name to get it right. I like the shade of green it has and bunch up with a white flower will definitely be nice.
Originally, I wanted a hand-tied bouquet of white calla lillies since it has a green stalk. Christian wanted the lily of the valley. So to give in to his suggestions, I searched online for suppliers of it and they cost a lot!!!! Their price is per stem for crying out loud!!! 25000 pesos for 100 stems... it will only be a small bouquet since on Martha Stewart weddings, it will be best to use 250 stems! I told Christian the price and he said to just use sampaguita since it has the same color and shape! Sampaguita is a local flower in the Philippines. I have collected some photos online of nice bridal bouquets with green and white flowers. I wanted to have green flowers and blue fillers but I guess it is rare to have blue flowers here unless you want a white flower dyed blue... which I think is not picture perfect!

One prep filled Sunday
After a tiring day of communiting from North of Manila to South of Manila twice yesterday, I had a Sunday filled with wedding preparations. Early morning today, me, by boyfriend and mom went to Divisoria to scout for entourage gown suppliers as well as get some stuff for the wedding... It is already near the 6 months mark for us to prepare for the big day and the time is making me nuts! We were able to find a supplier to do the entourage gowns and my mom's dress. I even have myself measured for my bridal gown but I am not certain about it. Think think think!!! While looking for dressmakers, we bought some stuff as well like the party poppers and my glue gun for the DIY projects! I looked for boxes that will be perfect to place our principal sponsors' gift but I failed to get one. We also went to the store that sells candles and man they were jampacked. People are starting to stock for candles for the coming all saints day. Me and my mom have to push way in the store and pushed ourselves again to pay for the candles. I also bought the secondary candles that my mom will glam up. When I went home, I told my mom to show me the arrae that she had fixed. I was stunned. It looked really good and it was engraved with our names already. My mom said that she had that made since it will be ours already. I was so touched! Hehehehehe!!!!! I did not waste time to take pictures of it already.

Christian playing with the secondary candles After I had a short nap, we went to my cousin's home to pick up our wedding rings that flew all the way from the US of the A! It is white gold band... Plain, simple and sweet just the way that I like it. I chose it actually online as I blogged earlier. So for both Kuya Boy and Benjie... Thanks thanks thanks from the bottle of our hearts... Laking tipid ito.. hehehehe!!!!
